Obligatory Introduction
Dec. 16th, 2018 05:41 pmMy name is Justine. I have decided to migrate over here in light of Tumblr doing whatever the hell it is that they are doing right now and the resulting panic from everyone. As you can read in my profile, I'm almost thirty, I have a dagree in Biotechnology a job which, while not very rewarding, at least pays the bills well and a family that I love more than anything.
My username is the same on other palatforms I frequent which are AO3, Tumblr, DeviantArt and Fanfiction Net. I am also presnt on Pillowfort, where I just moved all my story posts and commissions from Tumblr in case that one goes down.
My main fandom is, and likely always will be, Lord of the Rings and all things Tolkien. I picked up the books for the first time when I was twelve and never really put them away. I've read LotR books probably too many times to count, because I like to return to them every once in a while. I also read the Hobbit, the Silmarillion (another favorite to which I definitely don't commit enough time to) the Unfinished Tales and the Children of Hurin, though honestly it was quite a bit ago.
My second point of interest would be the Witcher universe - what can I say? I'm polish so Witcher is kind of in my blood by default. I love the short stories and also read them plenty of times. I read the witcher saga, though it was quite some time ago and I am not in a hurry of rereading it - mainly because I do feel like at some point it got unnecessarily complicated and the plot, at least to me, feels forced. I do love the characters Sapkowski created though and this is one of the reasons why I am a huge fan of the Witcher 3 game despite not being much of a gamer in general.
I must admit that I have rather negative approach to the other great fantasy series which is Game of Thrones, but that most because of its gritty, grimdark, violent approach ot everything and I tend to read to improve my mood not the other way around. I do slowly make my way through the series though, becasue I do feel that it is one of those books that any self-proclaimed fantasy fan should read.
Writing had been a huge portion of my free time since I frist picked LotR books and my teenege self wanted nothing more than to jump right into the story. Hence my love for fanfiction began and I will shamelessly admit that I do write stories featuring OCs. I am well aware of how this particular kind of stories is usually received by fandom in general, but I am a firm beliver that there is no story that cannot be improved and that there is plenty of OC-stories out there that are rich and wonderful. I have read some of them. And my own fic 'Journey of Oaths' was born from that first terrible, awful attempt at writing we all did at some point. So in short, show me your OCs if you happen to have some.
Dreamwidth piqued my interest since it is a platform where someone like me, who enjoys writing and reading long posts should feel right at home. Twitter and Instagram are defintely not geared towards writers of any kind. I honestly don't have any idea as to how this page works, but I do look forward to finding out and hopefully connnecting with my fellow Tolkien fans.
Looking forward to meeting all of you,
Justine
